For years, the traditional thinking was that heavy forces based on what a patient could tolerate were needed to move teeth. By creating the new Damon® System of high-technology braces and wires, very light natural forces can now be applied to move teeth at a rate never seen before in orthodontics. Fewer Office Visits
Traditional braces use colored elastics to hold on to the archwire. The elastics have to be changed frequently because they wear out and become stained over time. The Damon System doesn’t need elastics to secure the wire to the brackets.
Since the Damon® braces have a unique sliding door, they require fewer adjustments. The light force, high-technology wires continue to work for a longer period of time. This means fewer office visits than with conventional braces.

How is Self-Ligating Treatment Different?
Traditional orthodontic therapy involves tying archwires into braces with colored elastics or small stainless steel wires. This can bind up the archwire and cause the teeth to move at a slower rate. Heavy forces must be applied to overcome inherent friction in the traditional bracket system. These heavy forces can overpower or crush the very delicate underlying blood vessels cutting off oxygen and nutrients. This can be more painful, actually slow down tooth movement and lengthen the time of treatment.
Damon® braces, take a completely different approach. It has a patented built-in sliding door that holds the wire allowing it to move more freely to straighten your teeth. We use very gentle pressure, working with the natural forces of your body. This allows your dental arch form to develop the way they were designed to function. In most cases, this is accomplished in far less time with fewer appointments and with far greater comfort!
